Bio
- Name: Ted Wakeman
- Age: 79yrs
- Service Period: Vietnam
- Branch: US Army
- Introduction:
"I went out with one ARVN company, was just me, I was the only American with twenty five or thirty soldiers. Trust me, it's very frightening to go out on a search & destroy mission with no other Americans. Only the South Vietnamese who had a not-so-good reputation for fighting. Would they run or would they fight? And what would they do with me? I'd like to tell you I got over that, but I never did."
– Ted Wakeman
There are at least three Vietnam veterans at Patriot Features who advised the South Vietnamese army (ARVN) during the Vietnam War. Ted Wakeman is one of those. His sobering statement puts you in the field, imagining you were experiencing what he actually did - the lone American on the mission. This task during the Vietnam War was a critical effort to put the fight in the hands of those most vested in their freedom, the South Vietnamese. If successful, it would lessen the risk to American forces, who gave so much in the cause for the South's independence and freedom. Kudos to these brave men who undertook a daunting task.
This is: "Wakeman, a service story".
